Oh boy….

So the Nuclear Crisis IS a lot worse than they had “predicted”. I’ve been reading a couple of articles for a while concerning the situation with the nuclear plants in fukushima, because I’ve always wanted to visit Japan, especially Tokyo but now, I think I might wait a while. I’m still young anyways….

Thx! infoplease

Japanese authorities are saying that the fuel rods may have not only melted, but also melted through parts of their containment vessels as well. Ugh. So now all that radioactive waste could very well spread throughout Japan and surrounding waters. Here’s one article from Guardian UK here on the subject.

Now I’m not trying to be pessimistic and I WILL definitely go to Japan one day but this is scary stuff. Japan has suffered a major tourist plummet and I’m sure you can find excellent deals right about now, but do you think it’s worth it?

Pic I took some years ago in Times Square.

Since I’m fairly a newcomer at this, I’d like to share how I became the travel addict that I am today :). My dad always took us on trips throughout our lives: Niagra Falls in NY/Canada (several times), Disneyland in Florida, family get-togethers in Alabama, Chicago, and Georgia (very fuzzy memory of GA, I was a wee little creature then), Pow Wow and the Smokey Mountains in North Carolina, and so on. It was something that I thought was just what families do, until the year following my high school graduation…

I was always a little aprehensive about going alone on trips and the possibilities of danger I would face, but I decided to go on a roadtrip to NJ/NYC for the first time with a friend. We took turns driving, got there, and even got lost one time in NYC, and even though getting lost in busy NYC was the most stressful part, we got through it no problem. And that was the beginning of my love affair with traveling. I no longer needed my folks to direct me, I was able to get through everything on my own and in NYC (it is a big deal when you come from a more rural setting)! My philosophy has become this: If you get lost, go back to the city center and reroute, if not just stay calm and find help, you can and will always find your way back if you keep your witts about you. Since then I’ve been planning my next trips each year for me or the family.

I’m sure everyone is aware of the kind of things young people get into and what has happened to many young people traveling far from home or abroad. My thoughts as a young person is just have fun but be responsible if you’re going to travel far. You don’t want to have the company of irresponsible people with you. Surely you don’t want things following you back home that will shame you and your family. But nowadays people see it as just having so I don’t know about this world child…

Anyways here’s two pretty cool sites to find great travel deals here and here!!! Enjoy!!

Alexander McQueen was one of my favorite designers. I love his colorful, edgy-fairytale craftmanship and just pretty much everything about his collections just are inspiring, even though I doubt I could every afford it. *signs* It’s a shame he’s not here anymore. Maybe one day I’ll get to work for his company, who knows!! I just felt his imagination. The man didn’t just display on the runway, he gave us a show. Fashion shouldn’t give you the vibe like “whoo look at me, this is luxury for the higher ups that you can’t afford”, it should feel like you’re getting one of a kind artwork, designed in the likeness of something you’ve always imagined yourself in.
Here’s a video clip of the Savage Beauty exhibition at the Met Museum in NY by a lady (which has been extended to Aug 7 because of overwhelming popularity)

Mind as well start the day with a couple more sketches of dresses. I thought (at the time) that these were pretty neat. I could probably do a lot better now! 🙂

I had a cultural theme to these dresses: Native American, Latin (Brazilian carnival-like), African, Greecian, and Asian. Sorta, kinda.

Hello again!!

Sorry for the slight pause but it’s been pretty busy on my end, getting ready for classes but I have decided to stick with 5 topics; a topic each weekday ( you’ll see as I get things going on here). So thursdays will be the above. Since I am *ahem* an aspiring designer I’ve decide to share some of my designs and such with you as well as some Artists/Designers that I am into. Enjoy!!!

I sketched this a while back, haven’t quite figured out what company name I’d have, got plenty more where this came from!!! Oh and I’ll be looking to see if someone tries to copy these!! ^-*

P.S: If you’d like to share any of your art or share a Designer/Artist I should know of please feel free!!!

Music Monday!!!

On my way to work (and taking my sister to work) I heard Michael Jackson’s Heart Break Hotel and I felt a bit of sadness as I nodded my head to the beat. I am an advid fan of MJ and it’s crazy to think it’ll be 2 years since his death in June…I still can’t believe it. Here’s the song below:

Hola! Buona Sera! Konbanwa! and Hello!

This is my first ever blog,  and possibly the shortest post. Getting everything set up and hopefully I’ll get things rolling in the next couple of days.

Ciao!
